XC ELIMINATOR – WOLWESPRUIT

July 18, 2017 Cycling Blog 0

The ultimate adrenaline rush can officially be claimed by the Olympic discipline, the XC Eliminator! From the moment the whistle is blown, the race becomes an absolute sprint until you cross the finish line. Whether you breathe or not during this time is still unknown, but what is known, is that this discipline is not for the faint hearted. For a total of 800m, this race is over before you know it, and there is no time for mistakes!

Wolwespruit hosted an incredibly successful XCE event on July 1st, and Cycling Specific produced some outstanding performances. The best part… each athlete had a beaming smile as they rolled through the finish line. This course had it all, with tight corners, stairs, brick roads, AND single track. It was a privilege watching our athletes hold composure during the stressful seconds pre-whistle, and each and every one performed under pressure without hesitation.

I think there is an excitement to racing that all mountain bikers are attracted to, and providing opportunities for our athletes to go and have the times of their lives is what we strive for. We have identified the dynamics needed to inspire the youth of mountain biking and now we can officially add XCE to the list! The kind of unity that is created at these events is unique, and our team shows this by preparing together, cheering each other on, and quite literally holding them steady on the start line!

We are beyond proud of the progression of each Cycling Specific athlete, and we encourage them to continue to expand their experiences within the mountain biking world. Through MTB skills and experienced training guidance, we have tapped into the true essence of riding bikes! As long as the kids are laughing and smiling on the bike, we know we are heading in the right direction.

Raynard Claassons: “The event is a great idea, so much fun and spectator friendly! Great team vibe and makes for a fun day!”

Francois Botha: “Awesome event, well organized and enjoyed every second!”
